Biz-Art
Is business art?? I don’t even want to start this debate..
What I do know is that business usually equals information – vast amount of information.. But what's probably more important is that information can be portrayed in a number of ways – especially in the digital age, when PowerPoint presentations and Excel graphs rule conferences and brainstorming sessions..
Biz-art is simply put the art of digital manipulation of such data.
It is entirely digital process where business charts, models and tables are first created from scratch or copied from various business journals/annual reports/conference materials, and then fully striped of their informational value and translated into the non-figurative world of plain colour and form.
Biz-Art started its life on the autumn of 2003 in the inspirational city of Paris, France, during my study period abroad in the Business School.
Selection of biz-arts were printed in huge format and exhibited in ZiZi Gallery, Shepherds Market, Mayfair, London, UK in May 2005, as a part of huge creative event called Diffusion, produced by LCP Experience LTD.
Various office and graphic software suites are used to produce consecutive biz-arts, including MS Word/Excel/Powerpoint, Adobe Photoshop 7/CS and Corel Photopaint.
Most of biz-arts are pure improvisations and take mostly few hours to complete.
This collection is mainly stimulated by music artists and painters who constantly push/pushed the boundaries of the art as whole, and who, unsurprisingly reached critical acclaim and commercial (business) success as well.
Hats off to Autechre, Art Zoyd, Georges Braque, John Cage, Can, Salvador Dali, Miles Davis, Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Dj Shadow, Marcel Duchamp, Brian Eno, Vasilly Kandinsky, King Crimson, Yves Klein, Kraftwerk, The Legendary Pink Dots, Joan Miro, Muslimgauze, Barnett Newman, Francis Picabia, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Prince, Man Ray, Steve Reich, Mark Rothko, Roxy Music, Talk Talk, The Velvet Underground, Frank Zappa and many many more..
If you would like to have a biz-art made from your very own source of business information [[charts, graphs, models, tables, matrices, organisational structures etc..]], please send me the data as an attachement.. I'll gladly transform it and post it here with source image credits.
